Taco Thursday

After a quick workout of chest exercises and 20 minutes of cardio, Grant and I were ready to dig in and eat!

For Grant:
99% Fat Free Turkey breast with McCormick's Taco seasoning and reduced fat Colby Jack Cheese stuffed into Ortego Whole Grain Corn Tortillas.

These tortillas taste great and 2 of them have 110 calories, 6 grams of fat, and 6 whole grams of fiber!

For meee:
Firm Tofu with McCormick's Taco seasoning and a sprinkle of Colby Jack in a shell served with 1/4 cup Fat Free Refried Beans and some veggies.

Quick and easy tacos!

Back in the Swing of Things

I'm finally back to normal! I love weekend trips but they really mess up my meal schedule and work out schedule!

Typical Breakfast
Doesn't look like the typical breakfast but it's as close to breakfast as I get! I usually don't have oats in the morning but they sounded so good so I had branched and ate a 'normal' breakfast. I flavored the yogurt with sun crystals and some SF pancake syrup and only put sun crystals in the oats... they tasted awesome plain!

Tasty Lunch
For lunch I made some good ol protein pancakes and a whole can of green beans. This was my last scoop of Cinnamon Roll BSN protein powder- sad, sad day!

After this lunch, I went off to class! In between classes, I got an iced coffee and a small apple.

WORKOUT!!
Finally back in the gym!
-20 minutes level 10 elliptical
-10 minutes HIIT on stationary bike (killer!!)
-chest exercises, bicep (did 6 reps of 20lbs ! then died and went back to 15 lb dumbbells), and tricep exercises.

I felt great and had a PWO meal of dannon greek yogurt, 1 tbs milled flax seeds, 1/4 scoop BSN protein powder, and a little treat of 1/2 cup multi grain cheerios.

It feels so great to have a normal day again! Now i've got to make some dinner!

I've Got the Blues!

Blue Ridge Mountains that is.

Sorry for the lapse in posts guys, college got a little bit hectic and then I went to North Carolina for a snowboarding weekend. I ate some great food but honestly I didn't even think of taking pictures and I'm kind of face palming on that one. In Ashville, I ate at a place called Carmel's and had the most amazing black bean burger and Grant got an awesome real burger. We inhaled the food and then I said, "Wow, we should have taken pictures of that!" oopsie!

I promise food posts to come! and for the record, my body still hurts from snowboarding. I fell a lot and will most likely return to what comes naturally, skiing!

Happy Valentines Day!

So it's a tad bit late but HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

My day was wonderful and I spent it with the most wonderful boy in the world! He treated me like a princess, took me out to dinner, surprised me with red roses, AND got me Tiffany's Pearl earrings... my first pair of real ones ever. I LOVE YOU GRANT!!

I hope everyone had a great day! I'm currently studying so hopefully a food related post will be up soon and if not, take care and tell someone you appreciate and love them today!

Anxiously Awaiting Valentines

Our snow day was beyond perfect! We drove Grants 4 wheel drive car throughout some of the mountain roads (we have a baby mountain about 3 minutes from our apartment) and stopped at the national park to view the snow at night. It was so, so breathtakingly beautiful. On our way home, we saw cars in the ditches so we were really glad our car had 4 wheel drive! Prior to our little expedition, we watched Death Race and 3 episodes of Entourage and then cooked up quite an easy dinner.

Whole Grain Rice-a-Roni, Rotisserie Chicken, and canned carrots
I definitely ate my fair share of chicken, it was soo delicious and required just a little bit of heating in the oven!

As for today, I ate a Luna Bar and some 2% cottage cheese to fuel my workout. Grant and I did 25 minutes of strength training focusing on chest and back. Then, I did 30 minutes level 8 Stairmaster. My work out was harder than usual but my heart rate was the same... guess it was mental? I drank a protein shake after the gym as usual.

When we got home I realized how hungry I was and made an awesome 'brunch'.

Protein Pancakes with sugar free syrup and warm, cinnamon apples
To make the apples, I diced them up and put them in a microwave safe bowl with cinnamon and a little bit of sugar free syrup. I microwaved for 2 minutes and it created the most delicious, sweet, warm apples ever! I put half on my pancakes and gobbled up the other half all by themselves

Close up of the awesomeness of brunch

I also munched on some cold rotisserie chicken.... you really can't beat that stuff!

Now it's time to wait for our dinner reservations at the Melting Pot. SO excited!

Winter Wonderland

Georgia got snow!!

Cons
ALL flights were cancelled coming into Atlanta. This was the weekend Grant's mom was supposed to come in town for her birthday and visit us at our place for the first time. Flights are not even landing in Atlanta so she couldn't even make a later flight. We had the WHOLE weekend planned out, including downtown mall visits and a nice dinner at the Melting Pot... It really sucks because we were excited for her to come and since she lives all the way in Louisiana she really can't visit often.

Pros?
Well, we are going to make the best of the situation and use the Melting Pot reservation for our Valentines Day date. It's one day early but it's such a romantic place that I promised Grant it would work out. Another pro is that snow is just oh so pretty!

Winter Workout
-20 minutes on the elliptical switching from level 8-12 randomly
-15 minutes HIIT on stationary bike
-15 push ups... then realized I wasn't in the mood for them :)

I torched 366 calories and really killed myself doing that HIIT. The last five minutes sucked! I went to the 24 hour gym 30 seconds away from our apartment so I was safe! No reason to let winter weather stop me from being healthy!

our little kitty was so fascinated!

I might post dinner tonight but we bought a Rotisserie chicken so it's an easy dinner!

His and Hers

Last night for dinner, Grant and I had one of our easy staples: Pasta and chicken!

Before we lived together, we would make boxed pasta with white noodles and powdered sauces but we've made the switch to whole wheat goodness and my spices. Our diets are far from 'perfect' but everyone has their own idea of perfect so is there really a perfect diet?

Honey Sesame Chicken Breast with Whole Wheat Pasta.
Grant was in charge of the chicken and he did a fabulous job! He cooked it in a skillet and used KC Masterpiece Honey Sesame marinade. This is where our diet is not perfect. Number one ingredient in this mouth watering sauce? HFCS... ew. We are planning on switching to a healthier brand once we use this up.
Can you tell we like LOTS of chicken?

The pasta was seasoning with: salt, reduced fat parmesan, italian seasoning, garlic powder, and garlic herb salt free seasoning. It's our stable flavor combo for pasta.

His and hers <3

He gets lots of pasta, I get lots of veggies.
